2. Program Sessions

Class sessions for the W/IDIP are conducted in several twenty (20) hour formats (weekend, weeknights, Saturdays). Both the Phase II and Multiple Offender Program (MOP) are seven (7) day residential programs for repeat DWI offenders. All Amethyst Foundation program curriculums are based upon the principles of effective and participatory adult learning. The focus is on interactive communication and open discussion. Exercises encourage self-expression and self-examination. There are regular breaks in all program options.

Clients are constantly encouraged to participate and offer their opinions. The curriculums include: group processes, brief educational presentations, films, guest speakers, interactive journaling and counseling sessions (Phase II and MOP only). Clients receive handouts and educational materials. Participation, of course, is an important aspect of all programs. Instructors record their observations and note important information. Clients are encouraged to actively participate in all phases of the class sessions. Questions and opinions are welcomed. This is meant to be an adult interactive learning experience.
